We love this stunning white building with its impressive architecture and the gigantic museum within, housing many works by Klein, Arman, Ben, Keith Harring, Nikki de Saint-Phalle, Gilbert & George, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol...

Things to see:

The Museum’s Collections

MAMAC has close to 1,300 works of art from across the 20th and 21st centuries and more than 300 artists.

The museum’s collections are primarily works from the European Nouveaux Réalismes (New Realism) artists and the American Expressionism of assemblage and Pop Art.

The Yves Klein room, with around twenty of his works, marks the culmination of this 1960s period.

Several movements are exhibited on the museum’s walls:
- Post-Painterly Abstraction (an American movement that stood in opposition to Pop Art);
- American Minimalism from the 60s (an intentional stripping back and neutrality of the work);
- Group 70 (5 artists from Nice);
- French Abstraction;
- Free Figuration (or Free Style, a French equivalent of Neo-Expressionism) from the 1980s (figurative and colourful painting, inspired by comics, graffiti, street slogans...)

After your visit, go up to the top floor for a spectacular view out over Nice and its hills.

What to see around MAMAC

The museum is located on the Promenade des Arts which is worth strolling along. A few steps from the old town, this is a good chance to explore all its little streets and enjoy an avocado ice-cream, cactus, or even beer sorbet at Fenocchio’s! And if you’d like to see the boats, you’re only 10 minutes’ walk from the Port.
