The different types of INTERCITÉS train tickets.

What is an INTERCITÉS train?

INTERCITÉS trains are fast trains running on the conventional network (not on dedicated high-speed lines). The network is mainly organized around Paris, but some lines efficiently connect major provincial cities, such as Nantes-Lyon, Nantes-Bordeaux, Toulouse-Marseille, Bordeaux-Marseille...

As the largest rail network in France, INTERCITÉS offers an alternative for cities without high-speed access, such as Clermont-Ferrand, Vichy, or Limoges.

INTERCITÉS also includes night train lines, traveling from Paris Austerlitz to Briançon, Latour-de-Carol, Toulouse, Rodez, Nice, and Lourdes - and vice versa. Sleep comfortably and discover these destinations upon waking up.

INTERCITÉS destinations

More than 200 destinations are now accessible in France with INTERCITÉS trains. In the city, by the sea, in the mountains... INTERCITÉS trains serve a wide variety of territories in France.

Among the main INTERCITÉS destinations are Toulouse, Limoges, Clermont-Ferrand, and the Lyon-Nantes, Bordeaux-Marseille, and Bordeaux-Nantes connections.

Our holiday and getaway ideas for this summer with INTERCITÉS

Rochefort, the city of the young ladies

Located on the Atlantic coast, south of La Rochelle, Rochefort is a charming city on the banks of the Charente River. A more confidential destination than its famous neighbors, Île de Ré and Île d'Oléron, it was created in the 17th century with the establishment of the country's most beautiful maritime and military arsenal. Made famous by Jacques Demy's musical film "Les Demoiselles de Rochefort," it now has the last transporter bridge in France! Don't miss: the Accro-mâts, a tree-top sailing adventure course, and of course the visit of L'Hermione, the replica of the frigate used by Lafayette, whose home port is Rochefort. Then go on a cruise with a view of Fort Boyard and stop for the afternoon on Île d'Aix!

Clermont-Ferrand and the Auvergne volcanoes

Do you like wide-open spaces? An ideal family destination in the heart of the Massif Central, the land of volcanoes stretches around the city of Clermont-Ferrand. Many walks and hikes are easily accessible without a car. A shuttle connects the city's train station to the foot of the Chaîne des Puys. Guaranteed change of scenery as you walk on volcanic rock with a view of the craters! Don't miss: the largest of the volcanoes, Puy-de-Dôme, at 1,400 meters. You can climb it on foot or take a funicular: the Panoramique des Dômes. Spectacular views all the way up.

Cahors and the Causses du Quercy Park

This time, head to Occitanie. A stop on the Compostela route, the medieval city of Cahors is located in the heart of the Lot Valley. Stroll to the top of Mont Saint Cyr, wander and taste the AOC Cahors vineyards, the great Occitanie vineyard, and above all, discover the Causses du Quercy natural park. Hiking, caving, relaxing, and swimming by the lakes… Don't miss: the iconic village of Rocamadour, famous for its delicious goat cheese, as well as Figeac and the Célé Valley.

Brive-la-Gaillarde and Lac du Causse

Do you want to go green this summer? Then take the train to the south of Corrèze, Brive-la-Gaillarde more precisely. You'll love the green hills and local specialties like sheep's cheese. Don't miss: Lac du Causse, perfect for swimming, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding, and canoeing.

Tourist offers with your INTERCITÉS ticket
